COMMERCIAL ROOFING • FLAT ROOFING • LOW SLOPE ROOFING

EPDM

Commercial Roofing also called flat roofs or low slope roofs are installed using a single ply membrane. EPDM or (Rubber roofs) are very common throughout the country. Other membranes used are TPO and PVC depending on many factors such as what type of building they are being installed on.

EPDM roof systems are sometimes installed without using adhesive these types of roofs are ballasted roofs using river rock to keep them in place. These type of roof systems are extremely difficult to find leaks on and are being phased out for various reasons. We prefer to adhere the roof membrane to the coverboard. The ½” fiber coverboard is installed over the insulation using screws and plates.

Loose laid ballasted EPDM. We use a large vacuum truck to remove the rock before we can begin installing a new roof system.

TPO

TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) single ply membrane roofing system usually comes in white but is available in other colors. TPO is the most popular single ply membrane in the United States. TPO is much tougher than EPDM and classifies as a cool roof system.

TPO is fully adhered to the fiberboard and the seams are heat welded.

TPO has excellent energy efficiency, the white color is reflective and helps minimize heat transfer into the building. This means the cooling requirements for the building is reduced saving on energy costs.

Modified Bitumen (Mod Bit)

Mod Bit is used for flat or low-slope roof systems. Mod Bit is an asphalt-based mineral surfaced roll roofing. It is used for Residential and commercial flat roof systems. Mod Bit can also be restored using Elastomeric coating. SBS Mod Bit is used in Northern regions due to its flexibility and it adapts to temperature changes.
